Sometimes I wonder; Do I paint my own retina to fall asleep - and wake up - to...?

"When the soul wishes to experience something she throws an image of the experience out before her and enters into her own image."

The Light is returning - it's Christmas - and a New Year is Arriving

'The Other Story'
(based on H.C. Andersen's 'Den Standhaftige Tinnsoldat')

This Christmas time is always a bit ambivalent for me....
It's strange - or perhaps it is not -
It IS the time Winter Solstice - the shortest day and the longest night - and the light is Returning - in this part of the planet -
It makes me remember... a lot;
And so I feel joy with all the joyous moments I remember
And I feel melancholy with all the sad ones
I guess I die a bit....?
- And then I feel ....ever so slowly.....anticipation....small trembles of something stirring....
Something New....something waking.....
A New Year - a New Time
And I feel Thankful for experiencing this feeling!

POUR FAIRE LE PORTRAIT D'OISEAU - by Jaques Prevert, read by Marléne Jobert

This is my little - but VERY inspired - visualization of one of my first and most wonderful encounters with the French language; having recently moved to a little village in the French-speaking part of Belgium. I thank my very patient French teacher for introducing me to this amazing voice: Marléne Jobert - I ADORE her interpretation - it's magical!

I have tried to find a way to contact her, to ask her kind permission to show my images alongside her voice - I cannot find her contact info - so I tried to make it with only the written words - because the poem, by Jaques Prevert, is of course at the heart of it all! - But it's this amazing combination that just makes my heart dance with joy! And I so much wish to share it with anyone who wants to hear and experience this MARVEL!

Belgian children are lucky:) They get to hear and read this wonderful little poem while they are still children:)

- So, I take a chance and jump - I just really have to share this - I hope noone will sue me! And I hope it will bring at least a fragment of the JOY it brought to me!
